Two down, 48 to go!

On Sunday the 13th December the second Subaru Restricted Point-to-Point Series race took place at the Wadebridge Course in Cornwall. It was great to see the Devon and Cornwall team so active on social media in the run up to the day. This highly committed team even made a Periscope video, posting it live for viewers to be able see the preparations before the event.

The event was attended by representatives from the local Subaru dealership, Specialist Vehicles Subaru, in Plymouth, with vehicles from the current Subaru range on display. Simon Orr, the Managing Director of Specialist Vehicles Subaru, said “We are very excited to be supporting Point-to-Point. It is important for us to be a part of the Pointing community. As the newest Subaru Dealer based in Plymouth, it is a privilege to be at this very respectable and well-established event. Since taking on the Subaru franchise this August, we feel very excited to be a part of the day and look forward to meeting some new people and showing our customers why Subaru meets their lifestyle needs. The Subaru Restricted race was thrilling to watch. We can’t wait for the race at the Great Trethew Course on the 21st February, with the East Cornwall Club.”

After a great deal of build up in early December, the Subaru Restricted Point-to-Point race was won by ‘Applesolutely’ ridden by Sean Houlihan, owned by Richard Mitford-Slade & Mrs Lucy Johnson and trained by Richard Mitford-Slade. Houlihan finished the 2.2 mile race in 6 mins and 25 seconds, meaning ‘Applesolutely’ now has two wins and a second place in the bag. This mare, in its maiden season, has now qualified for the Subaru Restricted Point-to-Point Series Final at Stratford Racecourse on 20th May.

Sean Houlihan said ‘It’s great to get a winner early on and to qualify for the final is APPLESOLUTELY fantastic!’

The winning owner of the Subaru Restricted Championship will receive the use of a Subaru Forester for a whole year. If you would like to book a test drive and find out more for yourself, visit http://subaru.co.uk/test-drive-request. Let’s hope Appesolutely’s owners are excited about this fantastic prize, Rider Sean Houlihan certainly hopes so. We should start to see movement on the Subaru Championship leader board soon, 2016 is going to be very, very interesting. The next qualifier in the Subaru Restricted Point-to-Point series is at the Dunston Harriers meeting at Ampton in East Anglia on Sunday 10th January 2016. This event will be supported by Subaru Dealer EMG of Bury St Edmunds.
